Hi! My name is Shanna Parmley and I’m the owner of Coaction Consulting. I was born and raised amongst the corn fields in a small town of Southern Illinois. Growing up, I dreamed of doing big things and going to faraway places, but not too far...yet. In 2005, I set off to college in Nashville TN, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Belmont University.
Following college graduation in 2008, I decided I wanted to see and do more. I wanted to serve my country. I proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Cryptologic Technician, stationed in beautiful San Diego, CA on the mighty USS Mobile Bay. During my time in the Navy, I did in fact travel to faraway places and discovered a love for Project and Program Management. Strange love, right? After leaving the Navy, I completed the Project Management Certificate Program at UCSD Extension in one year and received my first job offer with a company that specializes in commercial and industrial emergency power, generators, and electrical services. My initial role was bid management, which quickly evolved into bid management and assistant project manager in the electrical services department where I developed and executed department standard operating procedures.
As grand as California is, there is truly no place like home, even if it’s boring. I returned to my hometown in 2016 and began working as the Procurement Coordinator and Asset Manager for the largest rural public transit agency in Illinois. Some major job functions included implementing purchasing processes to achieve state and federal procurement compliance, managing capital projects, and developing the Transit Asset Management Program. In January of 2022, I began and currently work for a project management start-up firm, where my responsibilities range from in-house business administration to navigating construction projects on the owner’s behalf.
In the summer of 2022, while doing the 75 Hard Challenge with a couple of friends, Coaction Consulting was born. Unfortunately, it wasn’t created out of thin air. The air was anything but thin that summer. This development took at least 13 years of brainstorming, earning the experience and knowledge to be able to confidently provide valuable services to other companies and individuals. If it weren’t for all the opportunities I was provided over the years, this endeavor would not be a possibility. So, thank you to all those folks who took me under their wing to show me the way and the ones who support me daily. I will be forever grateful!
